Mustafa Aksu Will Be On Television 26/01/2011

Retired bureaucrat Mustafa Aksu, one of the important Gyspy intellectuals of Turkey will be on Halk Tv channel on Friday, January 28th at 21.00 o'clock. Aksu will inform publicity about culture and problems of Gypsies in Turkey in the program.

Mustafa Aksu was borned in 1931 in Düzce Çilimli. He started to work as an official at Turkish State Railways after he completed his education facing so many difficulties. Mustafa Aksu put his heart to solve problem of Gypsies and to overcome prejudices targeting Gypsies. Mustafa Aksu made some researches to reveal prejudices and myths about Gypsies interviewing with many non-Gypsy people. He published a book named "Being Gypsy In Turkey". The book made 3 edition. Mustafa Aksu made a legal struggle against the insulting words about Gypsies in public dictionaries. These statements were removed from the dictionary of Turkish Linguistic Society by force of legal struggle of Mustafa Aksu.

These statements from his book is such as a summary of his life and his struggle: "Being Gypsy means to face major obstacles and to fight against these obstacles when you want to marry with the one you love or when you want to work in a regular job..." The program which will be featured on Friday evening is a big chance to listen his life story and major obstacles he faced from him in person.
