Engin Ardıç's Trial Will Happen In February, 8th 01/02/2011

The case presented on account of the fact that there is a claim about author Engin Ardıç to insult Gypsy women and flower sellers in his article will be seen in the second court of general sessions of Sultanahmet in February 8th at 10.00 am. Representative of many Gypsy NGOs will gather in front of the second court of general sessions of Sultanahmet on that date. Metin Salih Şentürk, the president of Kuştepe Roma Flower Sellers Association, evaluated the issue with those words: "The case we presented about Engin Ardıç will be seen in February 8th. We hope all Roma associations to be more sensitive about the issue and invite all of you to gather in front of the court of Sultanahmet in the day of the case."

The article of Engin Ardıç published on Sabah Newspaper in 2010, July 22th got reaction from Gypsies and all sensitive citizens. All of Gypsy women were blamed to act as a prostitute exemplifiying a Rumenian woman Engin Ardıç claimed to met in Romania in the article. After a while later, NGOs made a press statement to condemn Engin Ardıç and they have emphasized that they would use their legal rights against Engin Ardıç.
