Dikili Roma Association Made A Press Statement 23/02/2011

Members of Dikili Roma Association marched in protest from Ümmetoğlu Hotel to Atatürk Square to demand mass housing from TOKİ (Mass Housing Administration). President of the association Sitem Kara made a press statement introducing demands.

Dikili Roma Association's members gathering infront of Ümmetoğlu Hotel made demands of TOKİ to built mass housing for Roma in Dikili on 2011, February 22th at 12.00. They especially emphasized that housing right is one of the main human rights in the press statement. Sitem Kara, president of the association, read the statement text. He said that they hope authorities to be more quick to build mass houising for Roma in Dikili. Kara also emphasized that their demand for mass housing is also a need of all residents of Dikili: "We want mass housing in our district not only for us. We want mass housing also for everybody who live in Dikili. People from different ethnic origins live together peacefully in Dikili."

The president Sitem Kara said that they received an official document from the district governorate and it's claimed in the document that there is 93 decare land in where TOKİ could build mass housing in Dikili district of İzmir.
