Their Livelihoods are Provided from Frogs 18/09/2009
The livelihoods of a group of people, mainly Romans, in Edirne, Menzilahir district depends on the frogs that they collect.
The frog collecting Romans in Menzilahir district live with the frogs that many others would hesitate to even touch. Everyday is a struggle while collecting the frog and they earn they lives by selling the frogs that they have collected during the day.
They collect between 40-60 kilograms of frog in one day and sell them for 4 TL (1.85 €) per kilogram. The Romans note that they have been collecting frogs for 20 years and that they start collecting frogs from October until the end of May and do other jobs afterwards.
