What Is Happening In Tepecik Hospital 21/07/2011

President of İzmir Roma Fayton Culture Promotion, Surviving and Solidarity Association Gökmen Dunar made a press statement about his experience in Tepecik Education and Research Hospital. He went to the hospital to see the claim he heard that Roma patients are being discriminated because of their ethnic identity in the hospital is correct or not with his own eyes.

Gökmen Dunar said that he went to the hospital as an usual Roma patient to examine the claims in his press statement. Mr Dunar claims that Roma patients who are recognized as Roma because of their skin colour are followed by the hospital security with the thought that they could stole something and when there are too many Roma patient, it's started to be announced from the hospital microphone: "Please take care your bags. We are not responsible if they are stolen..." Mr. Dunar said that he was also discriminated by doctors and nurses as they recognized him as Roma and when he went to head doctor of the hospital to explain the situation, the head doctor didn't want to speak with him. The association approached various public foundations to start an investigation about the hospital.

The incidents in Tepecik Education and Research Hospital got huge reaction from Gypsies and all sensible citizens. People are waiting the hospital administration to make a persuasive explanation about the incident.
